Indian Men’s Team – Badminton – Thomas Cup

In the 73-year history of the Thomas Cup team badminton championship, the Indian Men’s Team had never reached the final. But Kidambi Srikanth’s side broke that run, surging into the final after a dramatic semi-final triumph over Denmark. 

India is not among the favourites for the Thomas Cup. They have punched above their weight, defeating five-time champions Malaysia and Denmark. The first European champions, to reach their first-ever final.  On Sunday in Bangkok, India has the chance to write one of the most significant chapters in the history of Indian badminton,. The one that might catapult the sport to new heights in the country.

The Indian men’s singles players are Lakshya Sen, Kitambi Srikanth, H.S. Pranay, and Bryanshu Rajawat. The Indian men’s doubles Players – Sathvik Sairaj Rangi Reddy, Chirac Shetty Co, MR. Arjun, Dhruv Kapila co, Krishnaprasad Karka, Vishnuvardhan Kout Panchala co.

Indian Women’s Team  – Uber Cup Players

The Indian women’s players playing for the Uber Cup; the Singles Team – PV Sindhu, Agarshi Kashyap, Ashmitha Saliha, Unnadi Hooda. For the doubles Team – Theresa Jolly, Simran Singh, Rithika Thackeray, Tanisha, Shruti Misra. The women’s team lost to the Thailand team in the quarterfinals.

Indian Men’s Team and Clash

In the Thomas Cup, the Indian team was in Group C with Chinese Taipei (Taiwan), Germany and Canada. The group won two of their matches and advanced to the next stage the ‘knockout’ stage. This is the quarterfinals. We have won in the clash with Malaysia. Then there is the clash with Denmark in the semi-finals. Today(15.05.2022), there is a clash with Indonesia.

Indian Men’s Team -Set score

In the first singles match of the semifinals, Lakshya Sen lost 13-21, 13-21 to Victor Axelson. In the first doubles match, Satviksairaj Rangireddy / Chirac Shetty won 21-18, 21-23, 22-20 over Kim Astruff / Matthias Christiansen. In the second singles match, Kidambi Srikanth won 21-18, 12-21, and 21-15 against Anders Anderson. In the second doubles match, Krishna Prasad Karaka / Vishnuvardhan Gaud Panchala lost 14-21, 13-21 to Anders Scoop Rasmussen / Frederick Sogard. Third Singles: HS Prannoy won 13-21, 21-9, 21-12 against Rasmus Kemke.

India has reached the semi-finals three times so far. Last played in the 1979 semifinals. Now playing in the final for the first time. The final will starts today around 1830 in the evening, Indian time. Congratulations to the Indian team on their victory.
