Welcome to The case of Wet floor: Mission Moocha. Some stories do not need big drama. They just need a small house, a rainy evening, and one tiny puddle. This is a story about family, confusion, and a very serious Moocha investigation.
One rainy evening in Chennai, something strange happened near the bathroom step. Kuttan had just woken up in his thuli. He stretched. He giggled. Then he made a happy sound, like he was announcing his return to the world.
Thatha lifted him gently. Paati stood nearby. She gave instructions, one after the other. “Put him down. Fold the thuli cloth. Keep it aside. Take the thuli peg. Hang it on the window rod.”
Thatha nodded. He said, “I know, I know.”
But he looked tired. He walked around like a busy band with too many jobs.
Then Paati added a warning. “Kuttan was loose inside the house. He walked everywhere.”
Just then, Simbha and Kuttan’s mother came out of a meeting. She took one step forward. It is a puddled, a squish.
“Kuttan moocha poyacha?” she asked. Then she froze.
“Aiyo! Who peed here?”
Before anyone could answer, four year old Inspector Simbha jumped into action. He wore his Horlicks cap. He stood tall.

“Mission Moocha begins!” he announced. The first suspect was Baby Kuttan. Simbha bent down near the puddle. Like a real CID officer. “Kuttan, did you pee here?” he asked seriously. Kuttan stood very still. One tiny hand held his T shirt. His eyes moved from Simbha to the floor. Slowly, he pouted.
“Nooooo,” he said. He shook his head again. Just to be clear. Simbha was not convinced. He sniffed the air. He crawled like a spy. He checked behind the washing machine. He peeked under the dining table.
Kuttan followed him everywhere. He giggled. “Moocha! Moocha!” he kept saying.
Then Paati cleared her throat.
“Wrong boy,” she said. She pointed to Mithran, the royal Pomeranian. He lay on the mat like a king. Very calm. Very innocent looking. Everyone understood. Mithran’s pee spots were famous. Near the bathroom. Near the pooja room. Under the shoe rack.
“Case closed,” declared Inspector Simbha.
That night, Mithran got a Dettol bath. Kuttan got chocolate. Simbha got a Best Moocha Detective award. It is now stuck proudly on the fridge. It is because in that house, the Moocha Mission never truly ends.

A wonderful story beautifully narrated. It did not feel like reading a story, it is narrated in a way a reader cane imaging the characters in his/her mind.
A good one for a quick read.
Kids could be encouraged to start up with reading habbits with such short stories.
