Vaali is sometimes referred to as Vaaliba Kavignar. “The Youth Poet” is the meaning of the two words “Vaaliba Kavignar.” For decades and generations, he has governed the industry. He’s my favourite lyricist of all time. Vaali’s updating sets him apart from other lyricists. He composed lyrics for young people. The beauty is that it wasn’t just one generation’s youth who participated, but a mix of generations.

We can discuss a variety of songs and their intricacies. Leave a comment with your favourite line and why you like it.

These are the two songs that come to mind right now.

Oh Maria! (Kadhalar Dhinam)

The film Kadhalar Dhinam was released in 1999. In India, the internet is in its infancy. Vaali demonstrates his understanding of Millenials by writing a song called ‘Oh Maria.’ The music was created using the internet and other internet-related technologies. He uses internet-specific phrases like email and net cafe throughout the song.

“Kadalukku fishing net-u/ Kaadhalukku internet-u!”

Ethir Neechal (1968)

K. Balachander wrote and directed Ethir Neechal, which starred Nagesh as the protagonist. “Vetri Venduma potu paarada ethir neechal” is the movie’s energetic theme song. “Sethi Ketto,” a song written in a comical tone that combines Tamil and Malayalam. This song demonstrates the lyricist’s diversity.

Vaali wrote lyrics for a number of songs, including Mouna Ragam’s ‘Mandram Vantha thendralukku,’ Sathya’s ‘Valayosai Kala Kala,’ and so on.
