What course we have to take is almost decided when we take our groups in Plus One. According to the group that we have chosen we may have to select Science stream (Medical, Engineering or Science subjects) or Commerce stream or arts subjects’ stream.
How important is it to choose the right course and college?
Students are guided by their parents, teachers and their seniors living in the surrounding. When these people suggest courses to the students, they should tell the students that if they read well, any subject is okay. There are tailor-made courses for getting jobs. Only the Polytechnic colleges offer the required skill which may assure some job to the students.
Parents, teachers, neighbours and relatives can give insight to students. Students should choose their options. They might have a wrong choice. That time they should be guided. For example, without reading Mathematics, studying any Commerce Course is difficult. If students are afraid of Maths, they should opt for Economics or History or Languages. One thing is important, “Students should select their choice”
While selecting colleges two things should be given more preference. Number one is the nearness of the college and number two is the fee structure. While Government Colleges may charge less for a particular college, Private Colleges may charge 10 times more. Another thing to be checked is whether the particular course selected by the student is recognised by the University. So, my dear Juniors, take the advice of the elders while selecting a course and a college.
Whatever the course be, it should be completed by the one who opted for it. “Reading” and “Learning” are two different things important in college life.
