World Book Day is celebrated on 23 April 2022. Books are documents that transmit rare ideas and deep thoughts in written form. Persevering and reading them will enrich the mind. These are not just a collection printed on paper. They have recorded treasures to pass on to future generations through writing.

World Book Day
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) celebrates World Book Day on April 23 each year. Their aim is to protect and nurture these intellectual properties. This day, a symbol of world literature was first celebrated in 1995 in Catalonia, Spain. On this day men and women exchange books and roses with each other.
Book Copyright Day
The idea of creating a ‘World Book Day’, was first suggested to UNESCO by the International Publishers’ Association. This day is not only ‘World Book Day. but also ‘Book CopyRights Day’. Russian creators believe, that Copyrights day will emphasize the value of the book and their rights. It associates with organizations including the International Publishers Association, the International Federation of Booksellers and the Federation of Library Associations.

Thiru Bharathidasan
The great Tamil poet, Thiru Bharathidasan quotes the above line. He was born in April (29.04.1891); deceased in April too (21.04.1964). It is necessary to set up a library not only in the villages but in every household. No one can meet a peak in life without a search. The book is the starting point of such a search. Book reading is like a flowing river. One book takes us to another.
Since books only can create scholars and achievers, we should treat reading as breath-taking. Book lovers will gladly agree that there is no better friend than books. Similarly, they would enthusiastically accept the opinion of Latin American writer George Borghese, “I have always imagined that heaven would be like a kind of library.”
Remembering Authors
Celebrated as Book Day, April 23 is Memorial Day for Cervantes, author of the world-famous Don Quixote novel. World greats William Shakespeare and Inca Carcilazo de la Vega were also diseased on this day. It also marks the birthdays of writers including Vladimir Nobokovm Maurice Duron and Joseph Pla.
World Book City
On every World Book Day, an organization will select a city for the title – “World Book Captial.” This culture began in 2001. Various events are being held to promote book reading. The first selected city is Madrid, Spain. In 2022, they selected the Mexican city of Guadalajara as the World Book Capital. In recent years they selected Wrocław of Poland, and Incheon of South Korea.
